Bodywork & the Return to Yourself

Therapeutic Massage Santa Fe

You come in feeling heavy.

Tight. Moving carefully, protectively. In pain, having lost mobility, or simply carrying more than a body, a psyche, a nervous system is meant to carry.

But underneath it — what you’re actually coming for is to remember that you have a body that’s innately capable. A spirit that loves life. A psyche equipped to meet whatever challenges may present. These truths haven’t been forgotten, no matter how long they’ve been buried.

My hands are listening before they do anything else. Then they’re opening the doors and windows to the storehouses of pain, no bigger than a fingertip, or palm, entering the places where flow has stopped, to the parts of you where energy and story are stuck. The body is a beautiful instrument. My work is to clean it, tend it, free it — and stay moved out of the way as it remembers itself. To remain a minister of calm as you access its storehouses of wisdom.

Because the body still knows.

Once it feels safe enough to trust — once it understands that this is a place where truth can be shared, where there is no need to hide or pretend or apologize — it begins to calibrate. The life energy, the chi, or prana, the mana, freed from what was holding it, moves through its own landscape again. And the light returns to your eyes, and your face. Your inner gold once buried, becomes visible, and attainable.

I’ve witnessed this enough times to say it plainly: this work is a rebirthing.

The Hawaiian tradition I work within offers four principles which I carry into every session:

“There are no limits. Now is the moment of power. All power comes from within. Energy flows where attention goes.”

You don’t need to believe any of this before you arrive. You only need to be willing to allow for safety and the process to unfold.

My approach is rooted in Lomilomi, the ancient Hawaiian healing art that views bodywork as inseparable from spiritual restoration. In this tradition, the practitioner works with aloha—sacred regard—to restore mana, the life force that animates all living things. Throughout each session, I work with pule (prayer/intention), allowing your body's innate intelligence to guide the work. The flowing, rhythmic quality of Lomilomi creates a meditative state where your nervous system can remember its natural coherence. This Polynesian foundation informs everything I do: healing happens when we work with the body's wisdom rather than imposing technique upon it.

Sessions are available in my Santa Fe studio or at your location (home, office, vacation rental) throughout the greater Santa Fe area, including Tesuque and El Dorado. Outdoor settings are encouraged when weather allows.

Every session is guided by what your system needs, not what the clock demands. If it needs a few more minutes, we allow it the time.

What to expect: This is bodywork as nervous system restoration and consciousness practice — offered by a licensed massage therapist whose work is professional, presence-based, and energy focused. While I work with fascia and muscle, my primary focus is on your energy body and nervous system. Energy is what builds the body. When the nervous system comes into balance, the physical body can finally release what it's been holding, and get on with the joy of being alive.

You'll receive real physical support: tension melts, pain eases, restricted areas open. But the depth comes from presence and precision, not force or pressure. This isn't brutal deep tissue work, and it's not surface-level spa relaxation. It's something else entirely—a meeting place where your body remembers what it knows — how to heal.

Many clients report feeling lighter, breathing more fully, and experiencing a groundedness they haven't felt in a long time, if ever. Some describe profound shifts after a single session. For those who return regularly, the work continues to deepen.

This is collaborative healing. I help to create the conditions for restoration, but the transformation itself is an alchemical response granted by your willingness to receive and allow, and the power that comes from source itself.

Testimonials:

Thank you for one of the best massages I have ever had. Being a fellow Massage Therapist that has been in this beautiful profession for over 25 years, that is saying a lot.
I wish I had had time to get another during my time in NM.
Kalalea, keep up the great work. You are truly one of the best. My body hasn't felt that good in years. My husband Cori also loved his massage.

Visiting Roots of Wellbeing was more than a soothing massage… it was a pure healing experience.

I entered the appointment dysregulated from grief and inflamed from an injury. Kalalea’s compassion and intuition were evident from the moment the session began. After the wonderful, master-level massage treatment combined with Reiki, I left feeling genuinely healed. This is remarkable because I do a great deal of bodywork and self-care, all of which is helpful, but this treatment was truly transcendent. It shifted the stagnant energies that had been swirling in me from the past. Absolutely the best treatment I have ever received.
